Let's Play

Let’s Play! is a program for children with autism that encourages parallel, co-regulatory interaction with peers. The adult-guided groups will promote joint attention, social referencing, behavioral and emotional regulation, and symbolic play—all core deficits of autism. These cognitive, social, and emotional skills establish naturally through guided participation and at the child’s developmental level.

FALL GROUP DAYS & TIMES: TBA

Children will be placed in groups based on developmental level and personality. Typical peers may be younger than child with ASD. Groups will consist minimally of one adult guide, one expert guide (typical peer), and one child with ASD, with a maximum of two adult guides, three expert guides, and two children with ASD. An assessment will be required for non-RDI children to determine their cognitive, social, and emotional developmental level. This is critical for group placement. The assessment requires at least one parent and lasts less than 2 hours.

Let’s Play! Groups are open to all children. Note: To experience optimal results from Let’s Play! Groups, it is recommended that a child receive RDI Program services at home with parent guides. Let’s Play! Groups are not classic social skills groups. Let’s Play! Groups are not RDI Program Dyads. The groups are designed for children with developmental levels corresponding with RDI Stages 2-3.

The groups will follow the Integrate Play Group Model™ of Pamela Wolfberg.
